Abstract
The concept of a «smart city» is becoming increasingly relevant, especially in the context of the growth of tourism and the need to modernize the urban environment. Digital solutions such as the introduction of smart IoT technologies in the tourism sector, the digitization of tourism services, are helping the city to cope with the load. The Internet of Things offers great opportunities for improving the tourism industry and shaping digital tourism ecosystems. In this regard, the purpose of the study was to analyze the use of Internet of Things technologies in the development of the tourism industry of Kaliningrad. The study was conducted by the method of content analysis of open sources of information, including open official documents of the Ministry of Digital Development, Rosstat, the government of the Kaliningrad region, the study of national programs, publications of scientific journals and specialized tourist resources. The study is based on systematic, comparative and statistical analyses. The article presents a comprehensive analysis of the use of Internet of Things technologies and the digitalization of the tourism industry of Kaliningrad. The main directions and achievements in the field of using Internet of Things technologies in the tourism industry of the region are highlighted, specific projects of modern digital technologies integrated into the practice of tourism industry facilities are analyzed. The use of smart IoT devices in the tourism infrastructure of Kaliningrad has shown examples of successful application of digital solutions, despite the fact that their implementation faces a number of difficulties. Various trends in the impact of IoT, digital technologies on the tourism industry are studied, positive aspects and potential risks associated with the development of digital platforms and services are highlighted. Analysis of the digitization of tourism services in the region over the past five years has revealed a significant increase in the number of digital platforms offering tourism services, putting Kaliningrad in fifth place of Russia's smart cities for 2024. The study forms a comprehensive view of the current trends and prospects for the development of the tourism industry of Kaliningrad in the context of the use of Internet of Things technologies in the digital transformation of the economy.
