Abstract
It’s determined that the sectoral structure of the production of goods and services in the Russian Federation partially corresponds to the level of profitability of its economy. However, its dynamics and the dynamics of the potential (opportunities) of industry development contradict the patterns of their change. Inconsistencies in the change in the sectoral structure of production to the patterns of sectoral economic development have been revealed as a result of the outstripping growth of intangible production, cyclical fluctuations of which occur in counterphase with the growth of material production. It has been established that the imbalances between them are more consistent with a low-income economy.
