Abstract
The purpose of this study is to assess the sustainability of the Russian oil and gas complex, as well as to identify areas and measures that contribute to achieving sustainability in the long term. The analysis showed that the key factor of sustainability is high availability of hydrocarbon reserves, forming an operational horizon. At the same time, an increase in the share of hard-to-recover reserves and a decrease in the oil recovery coefficient indicate an increase in technological risks and limited long-term resource sustainability. It is concluded that the policy of sustainable development in Russian oil and gas companies is largely declarative, and the restrictions caused by sanctions and technological dependence prevent its full implementation. Based on the analysis, recommendations are proposed: the active implementation of methods to increase oil recovery, the development of domestic technologies for the development of hard-to-recover reserves, as well as the integration of the principles of sustainable development into the activities of companies in the interests of society and regional development. The practical significance of the results lies in the fact that they can be used to justify strategic decisions of oil and gas companies and government policy in terms of stimulating technological renewal, reducing environmental risks and strengthening the long-term sustainability of the Russian oil and gas sector.
