PROSPECTS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF FAMILY TOURISM IN THE DONETSK PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC

Abstract

This paper investigates the prospects for the development of family tourism in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) as a socio-economic and cultural phenomenon. The authors conduct a comprehensive analysis of the specifics and functions of family tourism within the context of the region's recreational potential. The work clarifies the terminological framework, provides classifications of types of family tourism, and assesses the resource base: demographic structure, natural and climatic conditions (including the potential of the Azov Sea coast, hydrological network, and balneological resources), as well as the state of cultural and historical heritage and infrastructure facilities. Based on this analysis, systemic limiting factors are identified: the consequences of the military-political conflict, a deficit and physical deterioration of tourism infrastructure, environmental issues, and weak inter-agency coordination. Taking into account the analysis of pan-Russian practices in these field and current trends in domestic tourism, the authors formulate a set of strategic measures. These include improving regulatory and legal frameworks, stimulating investment activity, developing targeted development programs (including health, cultural, educational, and beach tourism), and establishing an effective mechanism for promoting the regional tourism product. In conclusion, it is substantiated that the implementation of the proposed strategy will contribute not only to the economic activation of the territory through increased tourist flow and job creation but also to the fulfilment of social functions—strengthening the institution of the family and improving the quality of life for the population of the DPR.
